I originally designed this skirt as a piece of my self-drafted dress for my dear sister to showcase the Bohemian Soul collection I designed for Sly Fox Fabrics.
The biggest difference between this hi-lo skirt and other common varieties is the slope of the hemline. When I was looking for inspiration for the bottom of the dress I came upon this Pinterest photo:
I loved how dramatic the slope was from the lowest point of the hemline of the skirt and the top. Instead of a gradual slope all the way around to the back, it drops steeply meeting the ground at the sides instead of the back. I lurved it. So The Duchess was born.
Psssst! That fabric is from So Sew English Fabrics. One of my favorite places to get rayon spandex and crepe wovens #ShamelessEnabler
I named her The Duchess after The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. This skirt is feminine, bold, classy and memorable. Descriptors worthy of The Duchess of Cambridge herself.
After perfecting the maxi length, I couldn’t stop. The Duchess now comes in midi and maxi lengths, conservative and dramatic rises (for a truly va-va-voom! effect), and is also suitable for both knit and woven fabrics.
