The Best German Pancakes Recipe on the Internet!

Fun fact: I was born in Germany. What?? Now you know the one thing I’d tell the class whenever we’d play that awkward “everyone sit in a circle and share something special about yourself” game. On another unrelated note, I have been making German Pancakes since I was able to use an oven. It is the first real memory I have of cooking for my family as a kid. Mostly because everyone loved them so much.

Want to know another dirty little secret? Lean in close… I don’t really like German pancakes.

Yes, yes I know! Why the fudge do I make these things so much if I don’t even like to eat them? Well, first of all, everybody else loves them and I love it when people I care about are enjoying the food I make them. Secondly, they look cool when they come out of the oven. Third, they smell great. Fourth, while I’m not really a raving fan, I’ll still eat a plate of them if I’m really hungry.

So I guess you can say I’ve been granted a great gift and a great burden. It’s like knowing how to make manna but you don’t really care to eat it. #dastruggle

So if you’re like everybody else and enjoy this sweet breakfast treat, follow this recipe and watch everyone come back for seconds (or thirds).

The first thing you’re going to do is preheat the oven and put your butter at the bottom of a 9×13 casserole dish. Pop it in the oven until the butter melts then remove it.

Dump the rest of the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stage your ingredients around it then take a picture.

Use a hand mixer to beat everything until it is smooth. You can also use a blender if you don’t have a mixer. Grease the sides of your dish then pour your batter in.

Allow it to bake for 30-40 minutes or until it is fluffy and the ridges are golden brown.

Top it will berries, powdered sugar, whipping cream, or anything else!

Oh and don’t forget the syrup.
