Okay so after my whipped body butter recipe, I wanted to give you all a new bath bomb recipe but I wanted to make something super beginner-friendly. I get requests for beginner-friendly/kid-friendly recipes all the time in the DIBY Club Facebook group. While sphere bath bombs are very popular, they can be a bit tricky at first. So I wanted to go with a recipe that didn’t require a specialty mold.

The problem is, usually “simple” is code for “boring” and I’m not into that. Then I remembered a “unicorn toffee” recipe I saw on Facebook a year or so ago and thought “Hey, I could make a bath bomb just like that!” And so the Unicorn Bath Bomb Brittle was born.

Can’t make this now? Pin this image to save this recipe for later!

This bath bomb is great because 1) you can make it with your youngins’ if you have some 2) you can choose how much you’d like to add to your bath 3) you don’t need a special mold to make it 4) it has glitter in it.

So let’s do this. Begin by snagging the recipe.

Next, put your mask on. We’re going to be working with some seriously airborne chemicals here and you need to keep it out of your lungs. Safety first, people. Safety first.

Then combine all of your dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.

If you’re using a stand mixer, go ahead and drape a kitchen towel over the top to help contain the bath bomb dust and mix the dry ingredients together thoroughly.

Next, melt your mango butter then add the remaining wet ingredients to it. With the mixer on, slowly add your wet ingredients to your dry ingredients.

Mix everything together until it is fully incorporated. Once it is finished, you should get a consistency like this:

Now for the fun part! Follow along in this video tutorial for separating the batch, coloring and molding the brittle:

Taking you from something like this:

Ooooo look at all of those purty sparkles! *insert heart eyes emoji*

To this:

So grab a friend and get to work! I can’t wait to see yours.

Can you skip the final mango butter drizzle or is it needed to make the glitter adhere? Looks fun!

You can skip it if you’d like! It’s just more buttery goodness in the tub, but the glitter will stay just fine without it 🙂

Is it alright to substitute mango butter for cocoa butter or shea butter.

You can for sure sub out mango for the cocoa butter but it’s a bit harder than the shea butter. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!

You can use sealable bags. Stiffer ones are better to help protect the brittleness of the brittle 🙂 You can also find small paper gift boxes lined with wax.
