DIY Sugar Lip Scrub Made from Jell-O

So this summer has been mega full of swimming pools and days at the park. Which means lots and lots of beautiful sun! One of the reasons I love summer so much is because the sun gives me freckles and a glow that gives me an excuse to not wear make up #epicwin

One of the downsides to all this sun exposure, however, is how it tends to dry out my lips. And dried out, crusty lips give me the sads. Which is why I love me a good sugar scrub recipe!

Now anyone that follows this site knows that I typically like make my spa recipes with ingredients that are good for selling the finished product. But you know what? Today I’m feeling a little crazy. Fun. Off-the-wall. Rebellious if you will. So how about we make ourselves some sugar lip scrub out of some Jell-O (and a few other things…)!

So first up – the recipe:

Start by combining all of your dry ingredients. Yes, that means the Jell-O powder! You can use any flavor you wish. I chose cherry because, quite frankly, that’s all I had in my pantry.

Next, grab a separate bowl and melt your mango butter in the microwave until just melted. You don’t want to over heat it – that could melt the sugar.

Then add the remaining wet ingredients including your Vitamin E. You can find liquid Vitamin E at Crafter’s Choice or most local health foods stores.

Finally, combine your wet and dry ingredients and mix them together until they are fully combined.

Store individual portions in small lip containers and keep them in your bathroom for quick use.

Instructions for Use

Lean over a sink and rub the sugar scrub over the lips for one minute. Allow the scrub to sit on the lips for another 2-3 minutes as the butters and oils absorb. Gently, blot clean with a warm, damp cloth. Do not wipe! This will remove the oils from the lips.
