The Best Free Women’s PDF Sewing Patterns

This post was originally published December 9, 2016 and has been updated with more pattern awesomeness!

You can find any number of free PDF sewing patterns out in the vast space of the internet. The tricky part is finding good free patterns. Most free patterns I’ve used end up having weird puckering in the armpit or other odd fit issues. This is a list of some of my favorite free women’s patterns for many of your wardrobe essentials. They all have a broad range of sizes available to fit every shape and size. These patterns are also tried and true. They aren’t free because they’re cheaply put together. They are free because the pattern makers are intelligent marketers 🙂

Pssssst! Many of these pattern makers have more than one free pattern available. Just follow my instructions on how to find these ones and you might see some others that you like as well!

Which brings me to this – nearly all of these pattern makers require you to do something to get the pattern for free – like joining their Facebook group. Every pattern I’m featuring is well worth it. So don’t hesitate and just do it! If you download all of these patterns you’ll have everything you’d need to put yourself together a solid wardrobe. All without paying a single dollar on patterns!

Can’t get them now? Pin this for later!

This is our Womens ABB Tee. This is the perfect relaxed shirt that you can live in, and love. This shirt is made for the beginner seamstress. Whats not to love. This will become a stable for your wardrobe.

Green Tee by GreenStyle Creations

Now I don’t like to pick favorites but Greenstyle Creations has some of the coolest ladies running the show. They have some incredible athletic patterns and the rest are characterized by their overall comfort and confidence. The Green Tee fits right in. It’s a perfectly slouchy everyday tee with two different necklines including a v-neck! Long story short – I lurve it.

I Heart You Bedtime Set – George and Ginger

This is the trifecta of pajama awesomeness – it’s comfortable, it’s sexy, and it covers my booty. Which is important to me because, baby, these hips don’t lie. The top on its own would make a perfect slouchy t-shirt, and the panties could double as swim bottoms as well. Versatility is my jam.

This free women’s pattern is one of the most comfortable shirts you will ever wear. It is nice and loose which makes it a perfect lounge-about top. But make it with a lovely drapey fabric and pair it with some leggings and jewelry, and you’ve got a comfortable outfit for a day or evening out. UPDATE: The Laundry Day Tee has been updated with a dress length! P.S. Didn’t Mac from Harper + Lu just knock that striped Laundry Day  Tee Dress out of the park or what?! I want 50 of them…

Agnes Top – Halla Patterns

When you think of the world’s most comfy casual dress, you are thinking of the Agnes. It comes in a tank and dress length and is a super straight forward sewing project. I love the boat neck which is a rare find but so flattering! It also has a soft “swing” to it for some flirty flare.

So every Christmas, Rebecca Page releases a free dress for her Facebook group. Last year’s was the Pretty Party Dress and this year she came out with this adorable pleated skirt and top. Pirate Pencil Skirt – Patterns for Pirates

This is one of my all time favorite patterns. It is a super quick PDF pattern to put together because it has very few pieces. It is insanely easy to sew, so the greenest of beginners can feel comfortable sewing it. Adjusting the length to your preference is easy. And everyone needs a pencil skirt!

Ninja Pants – 5 out of 4 Patterns

This is another essential for every women’s wardrobe. There are several different tights patterns out there for women. The reason I like this one so much is because it comes with 7 different length options (how long it goes down your legs), four rise options (how high it comes up your waist), and it also come with a crotch gusset to keep you comfortably active without having fabric riding up your hoo-ha. Which is always nice. All in all, it is the most comprehensive free tights pattern I’ve come across.
