The Best Free Kid’s PDF Sewing Patterns

A couple of weeks ago I did a post on the best free pdf sewing patterns for women. And apparently quite of few of you liked it. (Who knew people like free stuff?!) So anyway, I figured, why not do the same post but for kids patterns!

This is my list of favorite premium free kid’s sewing patterns. I say premium because they are made by some of my favorite pattern designers. These are tried and true patterns that every sewing parent needs to download. Immediately! If you were to download all of these patterns, you could put together a solid wardrobe for your kids (boy or girl). All without spending a dime on patterns. Most of these patterns work for babies up to young teenagers.

Hooded Raglan Sweatshirt – Brindille and Twig

I hate picking favorites, but Brindille and Twig are one of my all time favorites for kid’s sewing patterns. And this top is such a perfect staple for any kid’s wardrobe. It is perfectly slouchy and comfortable without being too frumpy. It’s also an incredibly quick sew when you want something fun for your little one in a pinch.

To get this pattern: This one is super duper easy to get your hands on. Just “buy” it for free from the Brindille and Twig website here. And while they’re not making you join their Facebook group to get this pattern, I highly suggest you do anyway.

Something for Everyone! – Love Notions

I really couldn’t pick one of the three free kids patterns by Love Notions to feature. They are so generous to give all three of these away. The girl’s Skater Skirt and the Dashing Vest are perfect semi-formal patterns for either gender. And the leggings are a staple in every little kid’s wardrobe. They go nicely under the Skater Skirt for little girls that like to rumble and tumble. The leggings are also great for pj’s or pair adorably with a frumpy sweatshirt.

To get this pattern: Join the Love Notions Facebook support group by clicking on this hyperlink. Go to their pinned post (the first post at the top of the group page), and look about half way down the post. They will have a coupon code listed for you to get the Skater Skirt for free. Copy the coupon code then go to this product’s page on their website (here). Add the pattern to your shopping cart then apply the coupon code at the checkout. The price of the pattern will be discounted, and you’ll get it for free!

The Leggins pattern is free straight from the website without any coupon code. Same deal for the Dashing Vest. Just add them both to your cart and checkout for free.

Movie Night PJs – Sew A Little Seam

This PJ pattern is one I would consider an essential style to have for your kids wardrobe. Obviously, it was made to be a pajama pattern. Which it totally rocks as. But the top and bottom options are incredibly versatile for other daytime clothes as well. It comes in three bottom length options and two sleeve length options. It also has a gathered shoulder sleeve option if you want a little puff in the sleeve for a feminine touch. Depending on your fabric choices you can use this pattern pack for many pieces in your child’s daytime wardrobe.

To get this pattern: Join the Sew A Little Seam pattern group by clicking on this hyperlink. Then find their pinned post (first post at the top of the group page), and look about half way down the post. They will have a coupon code listed for you to get the Movie Night PJ’s for free. Go to this pattern’s page on their website (here). Add it to your shopping cart and use the coupon code at checkout to get it for free.

Geo Dress – Sew Straight and Gather

Sew Straight and Gather is an incredibly chic pattern company. Currently, they only have one boys pattern but they have several uber trendy patterns for women and little girls. The Geo dress is one of my favorite free dresses for little girls. I’m a sucker for color blocking patterns. And the style of this particular color blocking pattern is extremely elegant yet casual. It’s a great layering piece, a great stand-alone piece. An overall fantastic little, contemporary dress to add to your daughter’s closet.

To get this pattern: This is another easy one to get your hands on. Just go to the product page on their website, add it to your cart and check out for free! Oh, and like their Facebook page because it’s really cool of them to give you this pattern at no cost.

Party Dresses – Mummykins and Me

The last two Decembers, Mummykins and Me has released a mommy and me party dress set free for their group members (Pssssst! This means you can also get the women’s version for free too!) I love how formal these party dress sets are! And they release right in time for the new year. These are some of the most intricate patterns I’ve seen offered for free. You won’t find a more premium PDF pattern set offered for free than these.

To get this pattern: Join the Mummykins and Me pattern group by clicking on this hyperlink. Then find their pinned post (first post at the top of the group page) and click to open the comments under the post. In the comments, a group admin has listed links and coupon codes for both the Paris Party Dress bundle and the Pretty Party Dress bundle.  Add them to your shopping cart and use the coupon codes at checkout to get them for free.

5k Shirt – Elliedactyl Designs

This shirt is perfectly relaxed fitting. The color blocking option gives you the versatility to mix it up with some funky kids fabrics. It’s also just a straight up classic cut and fit for a kid’s sporty top. Namely for little boys (since boys patterns are harder to come by – especially free ones!) But as you can see from the pictures below, it’s a great casual pick for little girls too.

To get this pattern: Join the Elliedactyl Designs Facebook group by clicking on this hyperlink. Then find their pinned post (first post at the top of the group page) where they have the coupon code listed to get this pattern for free. Go to this pattern’s page on their website (here). Add it to your shopping cart and use the coupon code at checkout to get it for free.

HarriSTAR Gazer – HarriSTAR Patterns

This free pattern bundle comes with a crazy amount of options. It has one of the largest size ranges going from 0/3m all the way up to 14 years. It comes in a dress option, a curved color block top, a squared color block top and a plain raglan top option.

Then find their pinned post (first post at the top of the group page) and look about a fourth of the way down the post to see the coupon code to get this pattern for free. Go to this pattern’s page on their website (here). Add it to your shopping cart and use the coupon code at checkout to get it for free.

Plain Pants – Duck Butt Designs

Duck Butt has some of the funkiest patterns. They use tons of unique angles, color blocking and pockets. Their Plain Pants are a simple jogger style bottom. I wish they had a few more pictures on their website to show off to you because these are such cute and comfortable pants. Make them in fleece for winter PJ bottoms. Make them in french terry for a comfy casual daytime sweatpant. Make them in stretch denim to match any top.

To get this pattern: Join the Duck Butt Designs Facebook group by clicking on this hyperlink. Then find their pinned post (first post at the top of the group page) where they have the coupon code listed, about half way down, to get this pattern for free. Go to this pattern’s page on their website (here). Add it to your shopping cart and use the coupon code at checkout to get it for free.

Chloe Skirt and Maxi – Made for Mermaids

I know I’ve already done a few skirts and dresses, but they’re all very different styles and they’re all free so who really cares, right? The Chloe Skirt is the little girl’s version of the Mama Chloe I have featured in the free women’s pdf patterns post. It comes in three waistband and length options. An easy sew, and a comfortable wear for any little girl.

To get this pattern: Join the Made for Mermaids Facebook group by clicking on this hyperlink. Then find their pinned post (first post at the top of the group page) where they have the coupon code listed at the bottom to get this pattern for free. Go to this pattern’s page on their website (here). Add it to your shopping cart and use the coupon code at checkout to get it for free.

  1. Love these lists!! Could you please do one for us plus-sized, fluffy gals?? It’s so hard to find nice, modest patterns that aren’t frumpy, or resemble a mumu! I’d be grateful to find patterns in either knit, or woven. I love reading your posts. Your sense of humour, and great taste shine through!! Much love from 🇨🇦.

    1. So glad you love the post Marsha! I absolutely can work on a plus-sized list! I will see what my group members can recommend to me. I’m sure there are some wonderful free patterns out there for women in the upper sizes <3
