The Do It Better Yourself Club is more than just a website. It is a community – well, a club to be exact. But unlike other clubs out there, the DIBY Club doesn’t accept cash for membership fees. Instead we ask for something far more important. Your heart.
Every woman out there has her own unique knowledge and experiences and may not realize how critical her perspective and assistance could be to another woman that is trailing in her wake. We have all had moments where we have endured the task of clearing a path towards a new skill in our lives. For many of us it can be too overwhelming. This is where the DIBY Club comes in.
We connect all of the members of the DIBY Club in one community. So the woman who is struggling can be helped by those who have already overcome.
But what does this have to do with DIY?
Doing it yourself is not as distant from the topic of self worth and fulfillment as you may think. Many women DIY for many emotional reasons that are directly related to their quality of life.
- To find distraction from hardships
- To build self-appreciation by creating
- To feel valuable by increasing their skill set
- To serve others with their talents
- To find time to take care of themselves
- To feel strong in conditions where they may feel weak
This is why the DIBY Club focuses on so much more than just teaching the skills.
It is a place of motivation and empowerment. Love and strength. When you are a member of the DIBY Club you are committing yourself to being there for another woman that may not believe she has it in her.
Finding Candles to Light in the Dark
One of the most beautiful but shocking discoveries we’ve made along this journey is how much we all struggle. It’s so easy to see each other on social media and believe that our smiling faces in the profile pictures are indicative of a life full of nothing but joy. But the more we have served here at The DIBY Club, the more we have realized that every single one of us fight battles far more often than others realize. So many women suffering with physical, emotional and mental pain. And we believe that’s what makes our community so necessary.
All of us push through our lives trying to bring more light to our experiences than the dark. And one of the greatest ways to grow that light in our lives is by sharing it with others. It’s like lighting your own candle to brighten the room then reaching over and lighting someone else’s. Now the room is twice as bright.
So while all of us are sitting in a dark room at some point or another in our lives, the DIBY Club is an invitation to bring other people into that room with you, then lighting your candles together. Suddenly the room isn’t so dark anymore. There are still dark places in the room but they aren’t as close to you. They aren’t as scary. This is what we hope to bring to women all over the world.
DIBY Club Origins
The DIBY Club was started by Jessica Hooley with a sacred mission to honor a woman that too many of us can identify with. It is now organized by a team of 6 people with over 30,000 members benefitting from DIBY Club content every month.
